Women in ETFs (WE) was proud to ring The Closing Bell at the NYSE on Monday, March 6th 2016 for the third year in a row to celebrate International Women’s Day. This year, WE celebrated the occasion with the UN Global Compact, UN Women, IFC, Sustainable Stock Exchanges (SSE) Initiative, IFC and the World Federation of Exchanges.
The NYSE generously hosted the elegant event which included a networking session followed by brief speeches in the recently renovated Board Room:
Deborah Fuhr, Managing Partner of ETFGI LLP and Founder and External Organization Liaison of WE highlighted WE is the lead partner on 17 of the 34 bell ringing celebrations and the organization has grown to 2,500 members in major financial centers across the United States, Canada, EMEA.
Fiona Reynolds, Managing Director, UN PRI discussed a new report published by the UN Sustainable Stock exchange initiative with GIZ, highlighting how businesses can and are advancing gender equality. It cites a number of imperative challenges.
Stacey Cunningham, NYSE COO provided a historical perspective on the advancement of women on Wall Street.
The event provided a forum for celebration and an opportunity for many WE members to connect. Many thanks to Nicole Marchand Ross, Bernadette O’Sullivan , and Jennifer Wappaus, for all their help coordinating the event and to NYSE for hosting WE at the Closing Bell.
